The Spanish Agency for Consumption, Food Safety and Nutrition (AECOSAN) has launched a new campaing regarding food labelling.
And we agree: ‘labelling is essential‘.
This campaign aims to teach consumers the advantages of the food information they are provided with.
The new labelling system protects allergic and intolerant consumers especially. Now, allergen information has to be featured in certain letter size and letterpress so as to differenciate them from other ingredients.
Moreover, and for the first time, it is compulsory to inform of the allergens present in unpackaged food (retailers and catering).
